Cellport Releases Three New Cell Phone Adapters

Fit Popular Nokia, Kyocera and Samsung Handsets to Cellport’s Universal Hands-Free System

BOULDER, Colo., January 16, 2002 -- Cellport Systems, Inc., a leading provider of automotive wireless communications technologies and products, today announced the availability of three new Pocket Adapters to fit popular handsets from Nokia, Kyocera and Samsung to Cellport's family of universal hands-free systems for safer in-vehicle wireless phone operation. The new products are the latest additions to Cellport's family of Pocket Adapters, and are estimated to enable Cellport's automotive and aftermarket customers to expand their markets to reach two thirds of the current US cell phone subscriber base.

The new Nokia Pocket Adapter extends Cellport's coverage of TDMA phones to now include the popular Nokia 8260 handset. The Kyocera Pocket Adapter, which works with the Kyocera QCP-2000 series of handsets (models 2027, 2035, 2035a), is the first of several planned products resulting from Cellport's recently announced agreements with Kyocera and CDMA chipmaker Qualcomm. The Samsung Pocket Adapter works with the Samsung SPH-N200 handset, one of the most popular phones offered by Sprint PCS, and the leading handset in the retail channel.

"Today's announcement demonstrates our continuing commitment to creating Pocket Adapters for all the most popular handsets to give our automotive and aftermarket customers greater flexibility and to expand our opportunities both here in North America and abroad," said Jeff Krevitt, vice president of marketing for Cellport Systems. "We are actively working with carriers, handset manufacturers and our Cellport Global Partners to develop additional Pocket Adapters, so that more wireless customers are able to use Cellport’s unique hands-free solution with their current or future phone."

Cellport's phone-specific Pocket Adapters make it possible to use more than one wireless phone with an installed hands-free system, allowing many users with different phones, or even different wireless service providers or systems, to access all the benefits of voice-activated, hands-free operation. When a new cellular phone is purchased in the future, only the Pocket Adapter needs to be changed.

Cellport Pocket Adapters work in conjunction with the Cellport 3000™ with Voice Command, the industry’s first universal, voice-activated hands-free system. The voice-activation feature lets drivers operate their current phones using simple spoken commands, allowing them to focus their attention on the road and not the phone. Unlike other hands-free systems, the Cellport 3000 with Voice Command is universal, allowing users to plug many different wireless phone models into the system and take advantage of voice-activated, hands-free communication.

The three new Pocket Adapters join Cellport’s current line-up of adapters supporting Nokia 3285, 5100, 6100 and 7100 series phones; Motorola StarTAC and Timeport “flip style” phones; and Motorola i1000 series phones for Nextel.

Availability and Pricing

The new Nokia 8260 and Kyocera QCP-2000 series Pocket adapters will be available this month, and the Samsung SPH-N200 Pocket Adapter will be available in February, 2002. MSRP for all the Pocket Adapters is $79.
